Download the ZIP file, extract it, then double-click the .ttf file. A preview window opens — click the Install button at the top. Windows copies the font to C:\Windows\Fonts\ automatically. Restart any open application (MS Word, exam software) to see the new font in the font list.
A Unicode font (Mangal, Raavi) stores actual Unicode codepoints — text displays correctly on any device without the font installed. A non-Unicode (legacy) font (Kruti Dev, Asees, AnmolLipi) stores standard ASCII bytes and relies on its font file to map those bytes to Hindi or Punjabi glyphs. Without the font installed, legacy text appears as random English characters.
Most SSC exams (CGL, CHSL, MTS) require Kruti Dev 010 for Hindi and the Remington Gail keyboard layout. Some exams have started accepting Mangal Unicode — always check the official exam notification for the current cycle. Download Kruti Dev 010 to be safe for older tests.
PSSSB (Punjab Subordinate Services Selection Board) exams accept both Asees and Raavi — both approved by the Government of Punjab. Always verify the specific notification for your post, as requirements can vary. Download Asees for non-Unicode practice and Raavi if the exam allows Unicode.
Yes — Raavi is pre-installed on all Windows versions from Windows XP onwards. You do not need to download it separately in most cases. The download page provides the font file for users on macOS or for reinstalling after system issues.
