Right-click Asees-font.zip and select Extract All. You will find the Asees.ttf file inside the extracted folder.
Double-click Asees.ttf. A font preview window opens — click the Install button at the top. Windows will copy the font to C:\Windows\Fonts\ automatically.
Open MS Word or the exam typing application. Select Asees from the font list. If it doesn't appear, restart the application after installation.
Asees uses a Typewriter-style (Remington) key mapping. Refer to the keyboard layout below to learn which English key produces each Gurmukhi letter.
Keyboard Layout
Each tile shows the key you press (top) and the Gurmukhi letter it produces (bottom) when Asees font is active. Asees follows a Typewriter-style layout.
Tip: Asees is a non-Unicode font — the on-screen characters look like Latin letters but the font converts them to Gurmukhi glyphs. Text typed in Asees is not copy-paste friendly across systems without the font installed.

Asees is a non-Unicode Gurmukhi typeface widely used for Punjabi typing across all government departments in Punjab. Along with Raavi, it has been officially approved by the Government of Punjab as a standard font for departmental communications, official letters, and public-sector recruitment typing tests. The font uses a Typewriter-style (Remington) key mapping, meaning the keyboard layout mirrors the traditional Punjabi typewriter — making it familiar for those transitioning from physical typewriters to computers.
Asees is a non-Unicode font: it stores Gurmukhi characters as remapped Latin code points. This means text typed in Asees will appear garbled on any system without Asees installed. Raavi, on the other hand, is a Unicode font pre-installed with Windows that stores text using standard Unicode Gurmukhi code points — making Raavi text portable across all modern systems. Both fonts are accepted in Punjab government exams, but Raavi is generally preferred for long-term use due to its Unicode compatibility.
Is Asees free to download? Yes. Asees font is freely distributed for personal and government use in Punjab.
Which keyboard layout does Asees use? Asees uses a Typewriter-style (Remington) layout — the same as traditional Punjabi typewriters. Lowercase letters type the most common characters; shift gives the less-common ones.
What WPM do I need? PSSSB and most Punjab government exams require 25 WPM in Punjabi. Target 30+ WPM to stay comfortable during the exam.
Can I use Asees on Windows 10/11? Yes. Simply install the .ttf file and select Asees from your font list in MS Word or the exam application.
