Frequently Asked Questions

Touch typing is the ability to type without looking at the keyboard, using all ten fingers in their designated positions. It significantly increases typing speed and accuracy. Professionals who touch type average 60–80 WPM compared to 30–40 WPM for hunt-and-peck typists. It also reduces neck strain by keeping your eyes on the screen.
The home row is the middle row of the keyboard: A S D F G H J K L ;. Your fingers rest here by default — left index on F, right index on J (the bumpy keys). All other keys are reached by moving away from and returning to this position. Starting with the home row builds the muscle-memory foundation for all touch typing.
The tutorial contains 120 lessons organised into 12 sections. Sections 1–3 cover the home, upper, and bottom rows. Sections 4–6 add Shift combinations. Sections 7–8 mix all keys with and without Shift. Section 9 covers the number row. Sections 10–12 are speed-practice tiers targeting 15–30, 25–45, and 40–70 WPM.
Most people can learn the basic home row positions within the first few lessons. Reaching a comfortable 40+ WPM typically takes 4–8 weeks of daily 15–20 minute practice. Consistent work through all 120 lessons will build strong touch typing habits and good speed.
Each completed lesson awards XP based on your speed and accuracy. Accumulate XP to level up through 10 tiers: Beginner → Learner → Practitioner → Proficient → Skilled → Master → Expert → Virtuoso → Maestro → Guru. Sections unlock progressively — complete all 10 lessons in one section to unlock the next.

Learn English Touch Typing — Free, Step-by-Step

Touch typing is one of the most valuable skills a modern professional can develop. Whether you write emails, code, or create documents, the ability to type quickly and accurately without looking at the keyboard saves hours every week.

The QWERTY Layout

QWERTY is the standard keyboard layout used worldwide. Designed in the 1870s for mechanical typewriters, it has become universal across computers, laptops, and mobile keyboards. Learning touch typing on QWERTY is the most transferable typing skill you can acquire.

Why 120 Structured Lessons?

Random practice leads to random results. Our 120 lessons follow a proven progression: master the home row first (where your fingers rest), then expand to the upper and bottom rows, add capitals and punctuation with Shift, master the number row, and finally build raw speed through graded practice passages. Each section unlocks only after the previous one is completed, ensuring you build a solid foundation before advancing.

Gamified Progress Tracking

Every lesson is scored on WPM and accuracy. Your best scores are saved per lesson, and a gamified XP system tracks overall progress. Level up from Beginner to Guru and earn achievement badges for milestones like perfect accuracy, 7-day streaks, and speed records.
