Mangal is the Unicode-standard Devanagari font — pre-installed on every Windows computer, readable on any device, and the format required wherever exams have moved away from legacy fonts like Kruti Dev. Central government secretariat and clerical typing tests conducted in Mangal typically run for 10 minutes, long enough to test sustained accuracy rather than just a short burst of speed. Note that this is different from the UPSC Data Entry Operator standard, which uses a 15-minute, Key-Depressions-Per-Hour metric instead of WPM — see the full government exam requirements table to confirm which pattern applies to your specific post.
Aim for 35+ WPM at 95%+ accuracy across the full 10 minutes. Because Mangal uses the Inscript keyboard layout (the BIS standard taught in most computer courses), typists coming from Kruti Dev's Remington layout should expect a short adjustment period — practice the layout specifically before chasing speed.
