Typing speed requirements are not the same across every government exam, and even within one recruiting body they change from post to post. This page exists so that every test and tutorial page on TypingTips.in quotes the same figures, sourced from official exam patterns rather than restated from memory on each page.

WPM (Words Per Minute) = (correct characters ÷ 5) ÷ minutes elapsed — the standard formula used by SSC and most Indian government exam boards. KDPH (Key Depressions Per Hour) counts every keystroke including spaces and punctuation, scaled to an hourly rate. The two metrics are not directly interchangeable.
